Steady May 2018
May was probably the month where I felt I have finally settled down since I moved back two months ago. It was a month where I felt prioritization was more important than ever, so was being focused. Oddly enough, I also felt somewhat less energetic, in the sense that I was starting to feel falling back to my "autopilot" mode. Maybe it's just that I recently took up a part time job on the weekend. I work at Time Bar from 9:30 till late every Friday and Saturday now. Drop by to say hi if you're around.
I have been practicing a few habits. I realize just how important it is to have something in your life that you do consistently. This kind of things grounds me. I continue my daily meditation session (currently on 149 streak). I also started intermittent fasting, which means I limit my eating period to only 6 hours everyday, effectively allowing myself 18 hours of fasting. I don’t eat anything until around 3pm and I stop eating at 9pm. Intermittent fasting forces your body to burn fat during that long fasting window.
Anyway, here's what happened in May:
1st: Yung Bae Hong Kong 2018. I had a chance to meet and take a picture with him!
3rd: Finally met up with Leo and Terence for dinner. I met one of them from high school and the other from Instagram. They now work at the same company. Go figure who's who.
4th: Hanged out with Mario and his ex-roommate.
5th: I went hiking at Mount High West, again. Then I had dinner with Calvin at this Shanghainese place in Causeway Bay called 正宗上海生煎皇. It's a pretty famous chain restaurant in Hong Kong. We went there for the pan-fried pork bun but stayed for the spicy wontons, which were honestly one of the best spicy wontons I have ever had. Then we went clubbing (by that I really mean drinking, checking out different bars and just catching up...). Very fun night!
6th: Had lunch at Lomofama and then I met Kellog for coffee. We went to the same high school but he's a few years older. Then I went to Tsim Sha Tsui for dinner.
7th: Met up with JC, my oldest friend (I've known him for 20+ years). We went to this Chinese place called Social Place in Central. Then we had ice cream at Oddies and a couple drinks at Time Bar.
10th: Finally hanged out with Ricci. Had dinner with him at Causeway Bay.
11th: Went to this new, pretty cool funky Shisha Bar called SpaceX HK. It's near LKF. I went there with my high school friends. We chilled there for a bit and then we went drinking. Ended up leaving Sheung Wan around 4am. Super fun night.
12th: Finally met up with Tim for coffee. Later that day, I got a message from the bartender from Time Bar. They needed help so I started working there again, as a back up while learning bartending.
19th: Met up with Nate for brunch and tea
20th: Went hiking at Quarry Bay, re-visited the monster building, and had Guilinggao
22th: Went hiking at High West in the evening to catch this beautiful sunset. Then went to Ollies for Special Steak night
24th: Went to 65 Peel for their 2nd Anniversary Party and reconnected with a few friends from Primary School. We also had dinner at Little Bao, which I had never been to but this place was always so packed. It was pretty good, though not cheap (about 70HKD per bun). I'd recommend the Szechuan chicken. I also brought my friends from Primary School to Time Bar.
26th: Had tea buffet with my family at Sai Ying Pun. The quality was honestly okay but for the price it was a bargain. Also made my first Cosmopolitan at Time Bar that night. Partied til the sunrise.
27th: Had a chill relaxing Sunday and hanged out with Ivan
30th: Had lunch with Alexander again at a hidden gem called Daily Set in an industrial building in Wong Chuk Hang. It may look basic but the lobster soup is everything.
31st: Company Lunch and saw this funky street art
Life is full of surprises. Towards the end of May new career opportunities start to pop up. I can sense that something exciting is about to come.
